The show starts off in Cob County, where an engaged couple named Maizy and Beau are planning their wedding. However, the wedding comes to a grinding halt when the towns corn suddenly starts to die. The almost newlyweds agree to pause things and join the town in fretting about its crops.
Maizy decides to pursue an explanation in Florida. After she gets off the plane in Tampa, she meets Gordy, who is fronting as a corn doctor. Gordy promises to help her save her towns farm, even though he's really after her expensive bracelet to pay off his mob debts - and drama ensues.
