Origins

Kimberly is a Teenager trapped in a 72-year-old elderly woman, and a teen trying to live every day as its the last. Following having a talk with a friend, And receiving the answer “Oh, she’s amazing—she’s like this little old woman trapped in a baby’s body”, David Lindsay-Abaire thought of "Kimberly Akimbo" for the first time.

Kimberly Akimbo is a musical that presented Off-Broadway at the Manhattan Theatre Club New York City on February 4, 2003. Starred by Victoria Clark, and Directed by Jessica Stone, often celebrated for his potential for uniting humor and harsh reality.

Story

The tale begins in 1999 in suburban New Jersey, a teen called Kimberly was born with a disorder that made her age four and a half times than she actually is. Put in an difficult reality to experience mortality and adolescence simulataniously.

Unlike the rare clinical condition, she is struggling with, Kimberly is rarely the center of attention in her life, in fact, you will see her nobly consumed by her family’s recklessly, which puts her in various emotional pressures including psychological strain, financial troubles, social isolation, and the need for belongingness. Despite this, she demonstrates great resilience, empathy, determination, courage, and above all humor.
